Your Surgeon
Dr. Shawn Evette Johnson has been practicing as an orthopedic surgeon since 2008.
She is a native of Houston, TX and a high school graduate of Jack Yates High School.
She completed her undergraduate degree at Southwest Texas State University (SWTSU) now Texas State University in 1999. Her degrees are in Exercises & Sports Science and Biology with a minor in Chemistry.
Dr. Shawn went on to obtain her medical degree at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas.
She became a member of the US Army Health Professions Scholarship Program and upon graduating, entered the United States Army on active duty as a commissioned officer. After completing her orthopedic surgery residency, she became a staff orthopedic surgeon in the US Army Medical Corps. Dr. Shawn served nearly 10 years, complete with two combat deployments before she transitioned her practice to civilian orthopedic surgery.
Following her military career, she completed a Sports Medicine Orthopedic Fellowship at Ochsner Clinic Foundation, New Orleans, LA. As a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Shawn is currently practicing as an independent contract surgeon.
She is also working within Austin County Orthopedics, her own private direct specialty care practice, which primarily serves the citizens of Greater Houston, Texas and its surrounding areas.
